Automatic enrolment is the Government initiative to help more people save for later life through a pension scheme at work – but not everyone knows when their staging date is.

Your staging date is the date your automatic enrolment duties come into effect for you as an employer. There are a number of things you’ll need to do before your staging date to be ready to comply with your duties – most importantly, choosing a pension scheme.

In order to ensure you are best prepared for automatic enrolment you will you will need to start preparing for your staging date. This preparation time will allow you time to plan your finances, and find the best pension scheme for your staff, and possibly more importantly, secure the services of the pension provider’s installation team.

If you don’t know your staging date, you can find it using your PAYE reference. If you don’t pay your staff through a PAYE scheme, your staging date will be 1 April 2017. Please see the table below for further reference as to when your staging date is.
