Last Wednesday (25th March 2015), we held an Elman Wall Group afternoon Business Masterclass at our offices here in the City of London.

The Masterclass, which is designed for owners and MD’s of travel businesses, explores a wide range of both current and traditional topics affecting the Travel Industry.

The intimate and interactive setting that we aim to achieve in these Masterclasses allows for a far more personal experience whereby the attendees have the chance to ‘ask the experts’ questions surrounding them and their peers. Attendees also often express how beneficial this setting is in sharing experiences, tips and budding issues with one another.

Last week, we heard from:

Jonathan Wall, (Managing Director, Elman Wall), on the crucial need for strategic planning for your travel business. One by one, he ran through 10 action points that when done, will ensure the current state and future of your business is really taken care of.

Russell Eisen, (Tax Director, Elman Wall), on the most effective ways to save tax, and in particular a fresh look at tax changes following on from the Chancellor’s budget.

Deborah Potts (Director, Summit Advisory) and Ian Palmer (Audit Director, Elman Wall) on how to build value in your travel business. Deborah, who heads up the M&A arm of the Elman Wall Group, Summit Advisory, gave the attendees invaluable insight into topics such as how to prepare for sale and the different stages of the sale process. Ian then advised, on the accounting side,  how to maximise value in your business by explaining, in plain English, some common accounting terms.

David Bennett, (Director, Elman Wall Bennett), on the latest TOMS developments with specific high profile cases that really brought the subject to the forefront of many’s agenda. He discussed the developments in detail and shed light on what it means for businesses today.

The afternoon came to a close with an Open Q&A surgery which was the perfect opportunity for our attendees to bring any questions to our speakers, whether about what has already been discussed, or other concerns they may have… all before some closing networking drinks!
